--b. January 11, 1947 - Breda, Netherlands

Frits Bayens

After secondary school he studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague in the main subjects piano and church organ with resp. Leon Orthel, Geoffrey Madge and Wim van Beek. He completed his studies in 1974 and then went on to study composition/arranging jazz/light music with Frans Elsen at the Rotterdam Conservatory.

Since 1970 he has been at the music schools of Breda and in 1981 as a teacher of light music at the Rotterdam Conservatory. Unfortunately, he has to give up all these activities if he chooses a position in the broadcasting world. In April 1982 he started working as a music director for the facilities company of the NOS, the later NOB. He will hold this position until 1994 and in that capacity he has worked with, among others, all broadcasting orchestras, provincial orchestras and national orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orkest and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.

In addition to this activity, he has written numerous arrangements for the Skymasters, VARA Dans Orkest, Promenade Orkest, Metropole Orkest and various smaller radio ensembles. In 1994 he was offered a position in the music department of NOS Radio, later NPS Radio.
